CERTIFICATES AND ACCREDITATIONS
What certificates will I receive?
On successful completion of the course learners will be awarded the Active IQ Diploma in Teaching Yoga certificate. It is recognised by the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) and allows access at Level 3 to the REP's register.
Is this course recognised?
Yes all Discovery Learning courses are independently accredited. The Awarding Organisation for this course is Skills Active the Sector Skills Council for Health and Fitness. This means that this course is recognised throughout the UK and your REP’s insurance will cover you to teach this subject.
Are there any pre-requisites?
You do not need to have any prior fitness qualifications to do this course and it is open to all fitness professional to develop their skills and further progress their fitness career. It is advisable that learners do have;
- Experience of participating in yoga classes
- A good degree of physical fitness
Learners should possess some basic skills in communication, reading and writing.
What will I Learn?
This course will teach learners how to deliver safe and effective yoga classes and will help learners to;
- Understand the role of the yoga teacher and skills needed
• Understand the benefits and origins of yoga
• Understand the relevance of ancient yoga texts
• Understand the eight limbs of yoga
• Understand the four paths of yoga
• Understand the key concepts of yoga including kriyas
• Understand mudra and bandha techniques
This course will cover the underpinning principles of yoga, anatomy & physiology (yoga related), planning and preparing sessions, the importance of teaching in a safe and effective manner and the ability to self-evaluate and reflect on teaching skills & personal practise.
Who is the course for?
This course is open to all fitness professional who wish to develop their skills and further progress their fitness career.
How Long is the course?
From start to finish this course takes a total of 15 weeks to complete. Learners are required to complete 6 weeks of home study prior to the course, followed by 7 full time attendance days (Monday to Friday, 9-5), with another 8 weeks of study post attendance to prepare for the practical examination.
Where can I complete this couse?
We will be running this course form our West London academy only.
What assessments will I need to complete?
The assessment for this course is a mixture of coursework, theory exams, case studies & practical examinations. There is at least one form of assessment for each of the courses five modules.
What support will I get?
Once booked on to the course learners will be given access to the student zone so they can familiarise themselves with the syllabus, they will also given the contact details for our student support team who will assist them with any problems outside of the classroom, and our in house tutors will be there to support you on the day of your course.
