This is a 2-day course that provides learners with a comprehensive understanding of the practical and theoretical aspects of strength and conditioning training. The course starts by teaching learners how to use analysis and observation to carry out an assessment of individual client needs.
Who is this course for?
This course is designed for current Level 3 personal trainers who wish to gain an understanding of techniques for training clients to improve their strength and conditioning beyond what is taught in a standard level 3 personal training course. It’s also very useful for gym instructors who want to gain a better understanding of strength and conditioning training in order to be better able to assist gym users doing heavy strength training.
2 full days from 9AM to 5PM
To be eligible for this course, learners must hold a recognised level 2 fitness qualification such as a gym instructor certificate or an exercise to music certificate. This could have been done either with Discovery Learning or with any other accredited training provider. If this was not done with us, learners must provide a copy of their existing level 2 certificate as proof.
During the course, students will learn about correct preparation in terms of warm-up and stretching routines and the way these affect an individual’s sporting performance and injury prevention chances.
The theoretical aspects of the course examine strength and conditioning concepts and techniques such as specificity, plyometrics, speed and agility, power training and the main strength lifts.
You will need to do 12 to 16 hours of pre-course reading and complete a workbook, followed by two practical teaching days. Finally, there will be a short theory and practical assessment at the end of the second day.
