CERTIFICATES AND ACCREDITATIONS
When finishing this Level 3 Pilates Teacher Training course, students will be awarded an Active IQ and a Discovery Learning certificate that will allow them to be a Pilates instructor. This qualification is recognised by REPs and as long as the student is a REPs member, the REPs insurance will cover them to teach Pilates.
Who is the pilates instructor course for?
The Pilates Instructor course is aimed at all individuals aged 16 or over who would like to focus their career on teaching Pilates. In the past we have had a lot of exercise to music instructors that have taken the course in order to help their clients with posture and strength.
What do I need to enrol?
You don’t need to have previous fitness qualifications in order to be eligible for this course but it is required o0f you to complete the Level 2 and Level 3 Anatomy and Physiology modules as part of this course.
Pilates is a popular training form because it help the body become more balanced and flexible and it also helps with overall conditioning and endurance. Throughout this course, students will learn how to deliver a correct Pilates mat based session to their clients.
You can choose to study either part-time or full-time.
Part-time study will require a six-week home study followed by four full days of attendance during two weekends, from 9am to 5pm.
Full-time study means five straight days of attendance, from 9am to 5pm.
While on this course, you will learn:
- Anatomy and physiology for exercise and health
- Supporting clients during exercise and physical activity
- Health, safety and welfare in a fitness environment
- Principles of exercise, fitness and health
- Principles of Pilates mat work
- Programming Pilates mat work
- Instructing Pilates mat work
While studying the pilates instructor course with Discovery Learning, you will have full access to our online interactive study platform that includes video tutorials, images, manuals, mock exam questions as well as other learning tools to aid you. You will also benefit from our Student Support team who are here to help via phone, email or Skype.
The Discovery Learning Pilates teacher training course is made of internal and external examination papers, client interview training, coursework and practical observations. There will be at least one assessment for each module with a six-part assessment schedule for module six.
Finally, there is a practical video assessment for which students film themselves demonstrating Pilates exercises as they would in a Pilates group session, and then send it to our assessment board for review.
The Pilates Instructor courses are available in our West London and Portsmouth locations.
If you are not able to pay the whole sum all at once, you can choose to pay in 12 monthly instalments with a 0% interest. We would just need an initial 10% deposit of the total course cost.
