Strength & Conditioning Instructor

This two day REPs accredited course will provide the learner with a unique introduction to the practical and theoretical aspects of Strength and Conditioning. The course starts with a thorough examination of client assessment using both needs analysis and observation. Correct preparation in terms of warm up and stretching and the impact of these on performance and injury prevention are also covered.  Theoretical aspects of the course examine Strength & Conditioning concepts such as specificity, defining strength and power and setting out specific approaches to optimise development of these critical aspects using classic Strength & Conditioning techniques such as plyometrics, speed and agility, power training and the main strength lifts. 

What will I learn?

This course will provide a platform from which to progress onto more in-depth and comprehensive Strength & Conditioning study, the course will provide sufficient knowledge and skills to be able to provide effective and safe S&C techniques to improve strength and performance in your clients. It will cover a number of topics including the warm up, explosive strength training, correct lifting technique and allow the learner to start defining strength. This course will cover all major lifts including the deadlift, back squat, overhead squat, pull up and the snatch.

Who is this course for?

This course is designed for level 3 personal trainers that want to introduce themselves to the correct and established approaches to Strength and Conditioning via a nationally recognised REPs accredited course and from experienced and qualified professionals.

How Long is the course?

This course lasts for two full day’s (9am until 5pm).

Where can I complete the course?

This specialist CPD course is being run in only one of our current fitness venues; the West London Location.

What assessments will I complete?  

12-16 hours pre course reading and completion of a workbook followed by two practical tutorial days, with a short theory and practical assessment at the end of day two.

What support will I get?

Once booked on to the course learners will be given access to the Student Zone so they can familiarise themselves with the syllabus, they will also given the contact details for our student support team who will assist them with any problems outside of the classroom, and our in house tutors will be there to support you on the day of your course. 

What certificates will I receive?

Upon completion students will receive a Discovery Learning REPS certificate in Strength & Conditioning and awarded 16 REPS points.

Is this course recognised?

Yes all Discovery Learning courses are independently accredited.  The Awarding Organisation for this course is Skills Active the Sector Skills Council for Health and Fitness.  This means that this course is recognised throughout the UK and your REP’s insurance will cover you to teach this subject.

What are the pre-requisites?

To be eligible for this course learners must hold a recognised Level 2 fitness qualification and provide a copy of the certificate as proof. A reasonable level of fitness and reading and writing skills is also recommended.
