REPs Introduction to Sports Injuries Course Content
This one day attendance course (with some home study) has been designed by an experienced physiotherapist specifically to support fitness professionals in improving their knowledge and understanding of Sports Injury. The types of injury that will be covered are sprains, strains, muscle tears, shin splints, tennis elbow, soft tissue damage, bruising, blisters and associated common injuries.
- Anatomy/Physiology - The basic muscles, bones, ligaments, tendons, heart function and process of injury and healing
- Basic Injury Treatment - Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation (RICE protocol), hot cold therapy, massage, bleeding, basic first aid, bandages, splints, broken bones, dislocations, joint support products and common medications (personal trainers must still work within their professional boundries).
- Introductory Rehabilitation - Healing process, basic strength work, proprioception, sport specific exercises, stretching
- Injury Prevention – training / overtraining and precautions, warning signs.

Day 1 Bones/Tendons/Nerves/Cartilage - Basic treatment and understanding of rehabilitation techniques.

Personal Trainers, GP Referral practitioners, advanced ETM instructors and all fitness professionals that would wish to support their client with injury.
REPs Introduction to Sports Injuries Course Entry Requirements
This is a CPD course and as such is designed for those fitness professionals registered at level 3 or above.
