What certificates will I receive?
Upon completion learns will receive a REPs accredited Active IQ certificate and Discovery Learning certificate in Instructing Pilates Mat Work.
Is this course recognised?
Yes all Discovery Learning courses are independently accredited. The Awarding Organisation for this course is Skills Active the Sector Skills Council for Health and Fitness. This means that this course is recognised throughout the UK and your REP’s insurance will cover you to teach this subject.
Pilates Instructor Courses
This part time or full time Diploma in Instructing Pilates mat work is a level 3 qualification and provides access onto The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) at level 3. Pilates is a form of exercise and body conditioning that can help to build flexibility and body strength and endurance. The course will teach learners all aspects of Pilates work including stabilisation and balance and how to improve these areas for clients to maintain correct posture.

What will I Learn?
This course will train learners to a professionally competent level, enabling them to prescribe, plan and deliver safe and effective Pilates classes. This course will take learners through the following units;
Unit 1 - Anatomy and physiology for exercise and health
Unit 2 - Know how to support clients who take part in exercise and physical activity
Unit 3 - Health, safety and welfare in a fitness environment
Unit 4 - Principles of exercise, fitness and health
Unit 5 - Principles of Pilates Mat work
Unit 6 - Programming Pilates Mat work
Unit 7 - Instructing Pilates Mat work
Who is the course for?
Anyone interested in Pilates or fitness that is over the age of 16. This course would suit exercise to music instructors who already teach classes and want to incorporate posture and strength elements.
Are there any pre-requisites?
There are no prerequisites for this course. As part of the course you will need to complete Level 2 and Level 3 anatomy & physiology if you do not have this already.
How Long is the course?
There is a full time or part time option;
Full time requires 6 weeks of home study followed by 5 full day’s attendance (9-5).
Part time requires 6 weeks of home study followed by 4 day’s attendance spread over 2 weekends (9-5).
Where can I complete the course?
This course is comprised of internal & external examination papers, client interview, coursework and practical observations. There is at least one assessment for each module with a 6 part assessment schedule for unit 6.
There is a theory exam you will need to sit. For full time courses this will be sat on the first day of the course. Adequate preperation will need to take place beforehand to ensure all theory elements are learnt for this exam.
There is a practical video assessment for this course whereby students will film themselves taking a class and send in for review.

Once booked on to the course learners will be given access to the Student Zone so they can familiarise themselves with the syllabus, they will also given the contact details for our student support team who will assist them with any problems outside of the classroom, and our in house tutors will be there to support you on the day of your course.
