Level 2 Gym Instructor (Fitness) Course Content
This Certificate in Fitness Instructing Course (Gym Instructor Course) will develop students to a competent and confident level to plan and instruct gym exercise programmes within a gym environment, covering subjects including:
- Anatomy & physiology
- Kinesiology (how the body moves)
- Warm ups, dynamic stretching, cool downs and developmental stretching
- Develop a key understanding of the programming principles
- How to use functional and innovative gym equipment
- The use of cardiovascular equipment and the promotion of physical activity
- Introduction to core and functional training
- Effective customer care and promoting physical activity

Gym Fitness Instructor Course Format
Discovery Learning understands that it is important to deliver quality, flexible, innovative gym instructor courses at affordable prices. Therefore our gym instructor qualifications are blended learning gym instructor courses. This means you will do some home study (distance learning) then come in to do your gym (fitness) instructor practical weekend tutorials.
The Gym Instructor Pre course materials are sent out on point of enrolment. Your home study (distance learning) materials will include Gym Instructor Manuals, accompanying gym instructor work book and a Practical Gym Instructing DVD. Our dedicated gym instructor student support team will contact you to start you on your home study journey. This is followed by three day Gym Instructor attendance workshop with our experienced and a skilled fitness instructor tutor (please see their tutor profiles). During the Gym Instructor Attendance Workshop you will sit a multiple choice examination based upon the exercise and fitness knowledge that you have learnt as part of your home study (distance learning). Finally the practical gym instructor assessment (you are required to bring somebody to teach) will take place over a period of one and a half hours and the whole gym (fitness) instructor course can be completed in around 4 weeks.

Progression routes after you have completed your gym/fitness instructor courses
On completion of the level 2 gym instructor course, you will receive a CYQ level 2 gym instructor certificate. As a gym instructor you will be able to command above average gym instructor pay with in a year of gaining your first gym instructor job. The average gym instructor wage in London is £15000 per year.
This gym instructor course provides Entry to Register of Exercise Professionals' at level 2.
