Are Discovery Learning's qualifications recognised in the industry?
All Discovery learning fitness, nutrition and personal trainer courses are approved by CYQ and Active IQ. All our courses are REPs accredited at level 2 or 3.
What is REPs?
The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) is a government backed system of self-regulation for all instructors, coaches, trainers and teachers involved in the exercise and fitness industry. It is advised that all graduates of our personal trainer course and other fitness courses should join this register. For more information go to www.exerciseregister.org.
What is continued Professional Development (CPD)?
In order to remain a Register of Exercise Professionals member, you must continue to meet the standards that are set for the profession through Continued Professional Development (CPD).
Is Discovery Learning's qualifications internationally recognised?
Our personal trainer and fitness qualifications are recognised in countries that recognise the REPs register. These countries include Australia and New Zealand, South Africa and much of Europe. As a UK REPs member you will automatically be given EREPs status if you decide to work in some areas of Europe. For the latest information visit the REPs and EREPs websites. The USA has no nationally recognised standard; therefore students who wish to look at the USA for employment will need proof of content for employment.

I already have a fitness qualification--can I skip parts of the course or get a discount?
Discovery Learning recognises qualifications from many other training providers. You can apply for "Accredited Prior Learning" and if you are successful - you may be able to get a discount on the course or just take a particular module.
What is the quality of the course at Discovery Learning?
Discovery Learning has over 24 years experience in the fitness industry. We have always received low risk statuses from our External Quality Audits from CYQ, Active IQ and REPs. We are part of the government imitative – the National Skill Academy- which has a rigorous quality assurance procedure. We passed this with flying colours. Our first time success rate is 98% across the company and we keep assisting individual until they pass the qualification. We have a very strong student support policy and procedure. All learners on distance learning courses will have a dedicated distance learning tutor, who will contact you at the beginning of the course. If you have any further questions, they can be contacted via the phone or email. They will also contact you via email and phone on a regular basis to check that you are on track with your learning. Our flexible training format allows you to train at your own pace and in your own time. It is our policy that we only employ tutors that have a numerous and high quality qualifications. They all must be working in the industry and must continue to update their qualifications. Our tutors are our key strength at Discovery Learning.

As a personal trainer graduate with us you will be offered support to find interviews with leading gym chains on completion of your training.
Do I get any help with my home study/distance learning?
Yes, our dedicated student support team are on hand Monday to Friday from 9am -5pm. If you would like support out of hours, this can be arranged on a one-to-one basis with your tutor. If we are not available, our policy is to return your call within 24 - 48 hours.
What happens if I fail my assessments?
In the regrettable occasion that you fail an assessment, we will fully support you to get back on track with your course. Our student support team with agree an action plan with yourself to ensure your reassessment is a success. Reassessments will be subject to a fee – so speak to your Student Support Tutor to find out more.
When will I receive my certificates?
Once you have completed your course you will be posted an awarding body certificate within 6 weeks of completion. In the meantime, you will receive a Discovery Learning certificate. This should be sufficient for you to apply to the REPs register.
