League Football Education manages the Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (ASE) programme for 16-18 year old players at 80+ professional football clubs.

This is the training that is undertaken in order to become a professional footballer and is inclusive of a BTEC Level 3 qualification in Sport, NVQ Level 3 in Achieving Excellence in Sports Performance, FA Level 2 Coaching in Football and in some cases Functional Skills.

However, due to the nature of football only 40% of Apprentices will receive that first professional contract and this leaves a large pool of talented youngsters searching for an alternative progression route. LFE’s responsibilities do not end there and it is for that reason LFE and Discovery Learning have linked together to promote and provide an opportunity to released footballers that compliments an already existing skill set with a promising career in fitness.
